Great job, Steffen!
We’re proud to release the first Release Candidate of Sencha Touch, the most innovative product we’ve ever created. We’re enormously grateful for the amazing response it has received, as well as the phenomenal participation from the Sencha community in testing it with us.
RC1 signifies an API and feature freeze. All effort is now focused on polishing the product by fixing bugs and improving documentation. We are rapidly closing down the list of open issues and expect to release version 1.0 shortly.
For more information on what’s new and improved in this release, read the blog post or take a look at the release notes.
To see what others are creating with our mobile web app framework, check out the Sencha Touch App Contest page where we’re showcasing the Top 10 apps plus 12 runners up! We will announce 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners at Sencha Conference on November 15th.
We’d like to extend a warm welcome to one of our newest additions to the Sencha Touch team, Jacky Nguyen. He is the creator of MooTouch (now part of Sencha Labs) and joins us from Singapore.
Jacky is already an outstanding contributor to Sencha Touch, and has put in countless hours squashing bugs as we prepare for 1.0 launch.
Sencha Touch 0.99β is now out with huge improvements to forms and scrollers, especially for Android, among a bevy of other features and bug fixes.
With our first Release Candidate imminent, Sencha Touch 0.99β contains a large number of API changes intended to make the API clearer and more consistent. We expect this to be the only time we undertake changes of this magnitude and have tried to make this as painless as possible.
For a comprehensive list of the new features, fixed bugs, and API changes, check out the release notes and download the new release today.
Andrew Neil has created a two-part series describing how to use XTemplates, a powerful templating system in Ext JS and Sencha Touch that allows developers to easily format views around dynamic data. Part 1 above, watch Part 2 here.
Andrew’s screencasts are focused and clean. We couldn’t be happier to be collaborating with him. These tutorial videos are part of an ongoing effort at Sencha to create better documentation and resources for our community. Enjoy!
Very pleased to see Joseph Schmitt and Brad Dougherty’s incredible implementation of Sencha Touch to build the Vimeo Awards Festival app. Joseph modified our default theme to match the Vimeo brand, and used LocalStorage to let users save their own favorite sessions.
Though the awards festival is now over, you can still check out the finalist videos in each category. Check it out on your mobile device!
(Also, Sencha Touch 0.98 was just released today. Go get it and start building!)
