Wow! I’m completely blown away that we have over 3,000 fans of Ext JS on Facebook!
After working hard all day on the Ext JS Javascript framework it feels really good to get comments like this and know that users really appreciate it:
Dear Ext JS,
Thanks for a great product. We are currently using Ext JS at the Fundus Photograph Reading Center as the UI for uploading images from clinics to our ocular disease graders. So your product is helping our researchers grade on the effects of pharmaceutical drugs with retinal diseases such as AIDS and Diabetes by creating a same day turnaround where clinics would have otherwise snail mailed CDs and would take a week or two.
I can honestly say your documentation, examples, and community are the most expansive and easy to follow out of all the Javascript frameworks, and that’s very important to a lot of people.
(Sidenote: I did not realize this but you can subscribe to our Ext JS Facebook page RSS feed.)

It has always been challenging to test Ext JS applications with Selenium because the automatically generated IDs can change if the application structure changes. Olle Jonsson addresses this limitation with a small extension to Selenium, though it still requires your Ext JS components to have a specified ID.
Ed Spencer spoke with Jason Huggins at TXJS this weekend and talked about testing integration with Selenium.
Real Time Web with Node by Tim Caswell.
Tim’s presentation was the most tweeted on SlideShare this weekend! Way to go!
The crew of Ext JS would like to thank the yayQuery team for putting on an amazing conference in Austin, Texas, this weekend, Texas Javascript. Nearly 200 people, tons of amazing demos, and plenty of beer and good times!
We saw great presentations by John Resig, Paul Irish and many more. Our own Tim Caswell discussed Node.js working with open-source Ext Connect, and Ed Spencer was there to discuss testing integration.
Here’s to next year!
Ext Scheduler, a scheduling component for the Ext JS framework, looks to be a helpful tool for Ext developers who need calendaring functionality. Arthur Kay has written up a sample project demoing the component on his own blog.
Ext Scheduler is available for purchase or free trial today. It was created by Mats Bryntse and Rasmus Ersmarker.
“The speed of Ext overall has increased significantly and I don’t think there is anyone out there that is using Ext that could ask for more speed improvements although I am sure the team is working on them.”
This plugin for Espresso (known as a “sugar”) includes code completion and snippets for working with the Ext JS Javascript framework.
“Ext JS allowed us to develop a rich, sophisticated interface in less time and with a smaller development team than would have been needed with other JavaScript UI frameworks.”
“Ext JS is emerging as an “industry-strength” framework and is being increasingly used in the enterprise. Ext JS also supports a robust client-side data model and support for component model and design patterns.”
“Then there is Ext JS. UI maven, FLEX-ala-JS wonder, builder of UI components you could cut glass on. You could build an empire upon their grid component, templating via containers and XTemplate is a wonder, and its baked in extensibility and data “store” model is a dream.”
